Analisis Peringkat Kebolehan Penyelesaian Algebra dalam Kalangan Pelajar Kolej Komuniti
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine level of algebraic solving ability among Community College student’s. Survey method was used in this study using superitem test. Superitem test consists of four content domains in linear equation namely linear pattern (pictorial), direct variation, concept of function and arithmetic sequence. Each domain was constructed based on four levels in the SOLO model namely unistructural, multistructural, relational and extended abstract. The accurate response given showed the students’ level of ability in mastering algebra.
A total of 390 students from the Perak State Community College were involved in this study. Data were analyzed using WINSTEPS software version 3.71.0.1. Rasch model analysis through individual-item mapping has been used to identify levels of algebraic solving ability among Community College student’s. The findings showed that most Community College student’s were at the multistructural level where they were only able to use two or more information in solving problems. Therefore, exercises can be given as soon as possible to students who have not mastered a certain level yet.
