Abstract
The practice of in-service training is typical of lecturers conducting polytechnic training. This study was conducted to identify the level of practice in service at the Polytechnic Merlimau, Malacca. This aims to see the problem with the quality of teaching and learning that results from the practice of in-service training in polytechnics. The survey method was conducted on 183 lecturers who were sample respondents to answer the questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of 20 items covering four aspects of the study, namely providing training requirements for lecturers, conducting training content training sessions, implementing student-centered learning (SCL) to lecturers and reviewing training effectiveness. Survey data were collected and analyzed using descriptive statistics and inference statistics. The results showed that the practice of in-service training at the Polytechnic Merlimau was in the range of 3.88 to 4.81. The results of the study also found that the value of t (181) = 1.693 indicates that there is no significant difference between the teaching experience of lecturers in practice practice in polytechnic services. However, there was a significant difference between the frequency of training attended to the training practiced at the polytechnic when the results showed t (181) = 5.549. Therefore, the impact of regular attendance on the service will make lecturers more competent in producing quality students. Training content needs to be adapted for the success of the model more effectively in line with the organization's objectives in realizing in-service training practices.
