Penerokaan Masalah Dalam Amalan Pengkomersialan di Kolej Komuniti Masjid Tanah: Satu Kajian Kes
Abstract
Commercialization of new innovations and consultation services at higher learning institutions including polytechnics and community colleges is currently become important and sensational. However, the commercialization track record among academic and innovative researchers in polytechnics and community Colleges is not very encouraging. Due to this, many innovations produced by community and polytechnic colleges were unable to be properly promoted to the public. Therefore, a study was conducted to identify the commercialization problems faced by Community Colleges especially in Masjid Tanah Community College (KKMT) as a guide to find the solution towards the problem. In order to fulfill the research objectives, various factors and issues were examined to identify how it affects the commercialization procedures of these innovations and services. The study is a qualitative type of research in the form of multiple case studies. To investigate the factors and issues related to this problem, an in-depth interview procedure has been carried out. Respondents selected for the study are five KKMT lecturers who were involved in the service consultation process with external parties in the field of landscaping, electrical, Internet of Thing (IoT) and social science. Researchers applied content analysis approach to analyze the data derived from a semi-structured interview from the respondents. The results reveals that problems faced by the people of KKMT for commercialization are lack of financial, incentive and management support, no expertise in managing commercialization and unclear policies from upper administration. The study also outlines some implications and recommendations for the improvement of the commercialization at Community college.
