Keberkesanan Medium Campuran SAP (Superabsorbent polymer) Dalam Pertumbuhan Sawi Pakchoy (Brassica rapa subsp.chinensis)
Abstract
Super Absorbent Polymers (SAP) are hygroscopic materials, for example white sugar, which are widely used in disposable diapers and other applications including for agricultural use. The combination of organic fertilizers with SAP solutions enhance nutrient content to be received by the plants through the soil. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the growth rate of mustard pakchoy using four media mixtures with different combination of SAP and organic solvent (gram), which are S1 SAP + (0gram), S2 SAP + (200gram), S3 SAP + (400gram), and S4 SAP + (800gram). Watering was done 2 times a day a week, which was on the morning at 8.30 am and on the evening at 6.00 pm. Hand sprayer was used as a tool for watering the plants in each polybag. Each plant watered with the same amount of water. Data collection for the quantity of leaves and height for each plant were taken once a week for four weeks after the seedlings were transferred to polybags, while the weight of mustards was taken in the fourth week. In conclusion, this study has found that samples with the highest SAP content and organic fertilizer, which is S4 (SAP + Organic Solvent 800gram), has shown the best growth rate. It is also assured to conclude that these samples contain the highest nutrient content when it shows the best growth and development when compared to other 3 sample.
