The Politeknik & Kolej Komuniti Journal of Engineering and Technology (PMJET) is published by Jabatan Pendidikan Politeknik dan Kolej Komuniti.
Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in polytechnics was first introduced in Malaysia through the establishment of its first Politeknik Ungku Omar, Ipoh, Malaysia under the United Nations development plan in 1969. TVET was strengthened with the approval of the cabinet committee on education in 1979 and the first national industrial master plan (1985–1995). All plans including the cabinet committee's certificate on training (1991), have enabled the establishment of more polytechnics and added study programs in the fields of engineering, commerce and services. On 20 November 2009, the cabinet of ministers approved a memorandum from the minister of higher education regarding the direction of polytechnic transformation involving the following four cores which are empower polytechnics towards becoming an option comparable to public universities develop study and research programs in the field of propulsion that rely on strengths in each polytechnic, empower polytechnic citizens with high knowledge and skills and build a high reputation image of an excellent work culture.
