Abstract

Lower academic requirements are required for admission to the KV program contributing to the negative perception of the community. More worryingly, most students who are not eligible to enter into any other program that are applied online will be opted into the PPU Technology Program optionally. The same and repeatable PdP method can also cause the student's boredom and intellectual ability to be measured optimally. This study aims to examine the factors of awareness of metacognition and student achievement. This study also wanted to identify the difference in metacognition awareness and its relationship based on achievement. This survey was conducted on 205 SVM students and DVM PPU Technology Program, Vocational College in Perak. Samples are randomly selected. Questionnaire was used, then the data were analyzed descriptively and inferred. The findings show that the level of consciousness of metacognition is at a moderate level with a mean score of 3.95. Pearson correlation analysis shows that there is a relationship between metacognition awareness and student achievement. The results of the descriptive analysis also show that there are sub-dimensional differences (planning, self checking and cognitive strategies) among high achievers students with low achievers. In conclusion, this study suggests that attention should be focused on the development of metacognition awareness for low achiever students so that their learning process is more meaningful. Metacognition awareness helps to improve learning by guiding KV students thinking, helping to determine the behaviors that will be taken when trying to understand things, solve problems and make better decisions in preparation for the 4th industry revolution.
