Abstract

Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) is a place where academicians contribute knowledge about teaching and learning as well as research.  Issues relating to information gathering were less focused on due to scarce of framework and this resulted in unsystematic information gathering in HEIs. This study is conducted to identify infrastructure factors of Information Technology and Communication (ICT), strategic planning and positive culture towards information gathering in HEIs. Quantitative approach is applied in the study and questionnaire is used as the instrument. Respondents involved are 130 lecturers from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Shah Alam and Politeknik Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah. Data gathered from the questionnaires are analyzed using Smart-PLS. The impact of the study can improve the quality of information gathering practice amongst the lecturers with strategic planning by HEIs administrator.   It can also serve as a reference to improve teaching and learning, refine the gap of current policy and planning pertaining to information gathering practice.
