Abstract

The concept of readiness among lecturers in facing the changes in the education system is inevitable as this is to ensure the relevance of an educational process to be in line with the development of knowledge and technology. In the Malaysian education sector, the term m-learning is not new. It is one of the branches in the education system based on information and communication technology (ICT) that allows the teaching and learning (TnL) process to be carried out flexibly regardless of time and place limitations. However, the use of m-learning in technical and vocational education training (TVET) systems is still new. This study is a survey study that aims to examine the readiness of lecturers on the use of m-learning in the TVET system at Lahad Datu Community College (LDCC). This study involves several variables such as knowledge, skills and attitudes. A total of 14 lecturers from LDCC were involved as respondents for this study. A set of questionnaire has been used as an instrument for the success of this study. The data obtained were analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26. Overall, the findings of the study found that the level of readiness of lecturers on the use of m-learning in the TVET system at LDCC in terms of knowledge, skills and attitudes is moderate. The implication of this study is that lecturers need to be given more exposure on the use of m-learning in the TVET system through self-initiative, institution or department either by organizing appropriate seminars, workshops or training.
