Peer Review Process & Fee Policy
Peer Review Process
The Politeknik and Kolej Komuniti Journal of Engineering and Technology (PMJET) peer review policy is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and supporting ethical research practices. PMJET’s reviewers adhere to the COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers. Peer review guidelines provide basic principles and standards to which all peer reviewers should adhere during the peer review process in research publication. Peer review process is crucial for ensuring the integrity of the scholarly record, but too often comes to the role without any guidance and unaware of their ethical obligations. This process relies heavily on trust and requires everyone involved to act responsibly and ethically. The COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers provide the fundamental principles and standards that all peer reviewers should follow during the peer review process in research publication. These guidelines aim to offer valuable guidance to researchers, serve as a reference for journals and editors in directing their reviewers, and act as an educational resource for institutions training their students and researchers.
Type of Peer Review
The Politeknik and Kolej Komuniti Journal of Engineering and Technology (PMJET) utilises a single-blind peer review process, in which the identity of the reviewer remains anonymous to the author (s) throughout and after the review process, while the identity of the author(s) is known to the reviewer.
Reviewer Selection Process
Reviewers are selected based on their expertise relevant to the submitted manuscript. The reviewer database of the Politeknik and Kolej Komuniti Journal of Engineering and Technology (PMJET) is continuously updated to ensure quality and relevance. Each manuscript will be reviewed by at least two independent reviewers, after which the editor will make a final decision. In case where there is a significant discrepancy between the two reviewers, a third reviewer is appointed to provide an additional assessment and help conclude the review process.
Reviewer Reports
Reviewers will be asked to evaluate the manuscript based on the following criteria:
- The manuscript demonstrates originality in its ideas, methodology, and data.
- The research is methodologically robust and well-structured.
- The results are presented, supported by appropriate statistical analysis, and aligned with the stated conclusions.
- The manuscript correctly and thoroughly cites relevant previous work.
- The manuscript adheres to the appropriate ethical and academic standards.
Language correction is not a formal part of the review process. However, reviewers may suggest improvements to enhance the clarity and style of the manuscript. During the final editorial stage, the editor will assess the manuscript.
Peer Review Process
In order to confirm the validity of the work reported, the article is reviewed by at least two reviewers who are chosen from our panel of experts in their respective fields. In case of conflicting review between two reviewers, the third reviewer will be assigned to conclude the review process. The review process uses single-blind review in which the identity of reviewers is concealed. PMJET utilises Open Journal System (OJS) for paper submission and for tracking the progress of a submitted article.
