Author Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in submitting your manuscript to the Politeknik & Kolej Komuniti Journal of Engineering and Technology (PMJET).

Authors are highly advised to read the Author Guidelines in preparing their manuscript according to the PMJET's specifications to ensure a smooth publication of journal articles. Authors are reminded to avoid plagiarism and adhere to the code of ethics of the PMJET.

Submission Guidelines
PMJET is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research articles related to applied research, innovations, and best practices in engineering technology and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

Manuscript submitted for consideration of publication in the PMJET must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere in electronic or printed form. The manuscript has not been published previously. The corresponding author should declare this when submitting the manuscript to the journal.

PMJET uses the online platform Online Journal System (OJS) for the publication processes which include submission, reviewing, proofreading, and copyediting. The new author will be required to register as a new user before proceeding to the submission stage. The publication processes take approximately 24-28 weeks once the manuscript is submitted by the authors through the online system. Prior to the reviewing process, each submission will undergo screening using Turnitin software to ensure a similarity index of < 30% before the review process begins.

Manuscript Preparation
PMJET welcomes the submission of manuscripts written in English (United Kingdom) using Bookman Old Style. The manuscript should be prepared using Microsoft Word, and it must be between 10 to 12 pages of A4 size (21 cm x 29.7 cm), including figures, tables and a list of references. The manuscript should be prepared using PMJET manuscript template as follows:

 The text should be typed within a print area with Normal margins setting similar to the template. The body of the manuscript should be typed in one column, with single-line spacing, using Bookman Old Style font type, font size 12, and the text alignment should be justified. Please use the following headings:

  • Abstract;
  • Introduction;
  • Methodology;
  • Results and Discussion;
  • Conclusion(s);
  • Acknowledgement;
  • Author Contributions;
  • Conflicts of Interest;
  • References.

Manuscripts should only be submitted for consideration once consent is given by all contributing authors. Those submitting manuscripts should be carefully checked to ensure that all works contributed to the manuscript are acknowledged. The list of authors should include all those who can legitimately claim authorship.

Title, Author's Name & Affiliation
The title of the manuscript should be concise and informative. It should be centred across the full page with the first letter of each major word in capital letters. Title should be typed using 14-font size, Bookman Old Style, bold. Author name(s) should be typed using 12-font size, Bookman Old Style, bold. Author(s) affiliation, address information, and corresponding author’s email should be typed using 10-font size, Bookman Old Style. The corresponding author must be indicated with an asterisk (*) after the author’s name.

Abstract
Each manuscript should contain an abstract of approximately 200-300 words and should be typed using Font type: Bookman Old Style; Font size: 10; Line spacing: 1.0; Paragraph: Justify. The manuscript must be camera-ready. The abstract should state a short introduction of the background of the study, problem statement, purpose of the research, briefing about the methodology, main results and major conclusions. These six items should be included in the abstract section (Compulsory). Citation or References and non-standard or uncommon abbreviations should be avoided in the abstract.

Keywords
Authors should provide not more than five (5) keywords; avoid too general and too specific keywords. The keywords should be typed using Bookman Old Style, 10, Capitalise Each Word, and should be arranged alphabetically, separated by commas.

Introduction
A brief literature review and previous relevant work with references. Include the objectives of the research work in the last paragraph.

Methodology
Precise methods should be described to ensure reproducibility. Published or known methods should be cited correctly, and if there are any modifications, they should be noted.

Results and Discussion
Clear and concise. Presentation of results with tables and figures may improve its clarity. Avoid presenting repetitive results in writing and in the form of tables and figures. Discussion should explain the significance, impact and consequences of the results.

Conclusion
A conclusion to review the main points of the paper, do not replicate the abstract as the conclusion. A conclusion might elaborate on the importance of the work or suggest applications and extensions of future work. Authors are advised to provide a conclusion to summarise the results interpretation with suggested recommendations. Avoid repetition of the points made in the preceding sections.
