Kesan Penambahan Abu Sekam Padi Terhadap Sifat Mekanikal Batu Bata
Abstract
Bricks are artificial stones made from basic materials such as sand, cement, and water that are produced in a certain shape and then dried to harden. In brick making, it is done with or without additives. In this study, rice husk ash was added to 5 different brick samples to find the optimum composition and to determine the properties of the rice husk ash in terms of compressive strength, density, and water absorption. The results showed that sample A with a ratio of cement, sand, and ash of 1:5:1 gave the best result compared to commercial brick readings and other samples with compressive strength values of 136.25kN, 1505kg/m3 density and 12.07% moisture absorption. Hence, it produces a saving of 16% of silica sand usage in commercial bricks but retaining the same properties as commercial bricks.
